DENNIS CHOOKASZIAN AND ROBERT SIMON JOIN CLEARGAUGE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Former CNA CEO and Current Alta Partners Executive Bring Leadership, Experience Growing Companies to Interactive Marketing and Analytics Firm
CHICAGO, June 13, 2006 – ClearGauge, a strategic interactive marketing and analytics services firm, announced today the appointments of retired CNA Insurance Companies Chairman and CEO Dennis Chookaszian and Alta Partners General Partner Robert Simon to its Board of Directors.
ClearGauge helps companies get optimal business results from their Web sites with a strong focus on metrics to achieve business goals. Its clients include Caterpillar, Dow Chemical, DuPont, Emdeon Practice Services, GE Corporate Financial Services, MOD-PAC, and Siemens.
Both Chookaszian and Simon bring broad experiences to the ClearGauge Board. Chookaszian served CNA’s top posts from 1992-99, and as Chairman of the company’s executive committee from 1999-2001. He also served as the firm’s President and C.O.O., and CFO during his more than 25 years of service to the company. In addition, he was Chairman and CEO of mPower Inc., an Internet financial advisory service, from 1999-2001.
At San Francisco-based Alta Partners, a venture capital firm, Simon leads investments in early stage companies in the software, enterprise software, network security and wireless technology sectors. Prior to his tenure at Alta, Simon was a venture partner at Sierra Ventures and while there, founded DotBank.com, a person-to-person payment system for the Internet eventually acquired by Yahoo.
“The addition of Dennis and Robert to our Board of Directors gives us extremely valuable perspectives,” said Karen Breen Vogel, CEO of ClearGauge. “Their knowledge and experience will help us grow our business and hone our execution skills.”
Besides ClearGauge, Chookaszian is a director of several private companies and other organizations, and four public corporations, including the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Career Education, Sapient and Insweb.
“Joining ClearGauge as a Board member presents some great opportunities, including playing a role in a company that is helping to change the face of marketing,” Chookaszian said. “ClearGauge’s clients, in turn, are transforming their businesses and changing the ways they deliver value to their own customers.”
Simon was the co-founder of Navitel Communications, co-developer with Microsoft in creating software for screen telephones. He also founded Virgil Corporation and was the director of Lotus West for Lotus Development Corporation.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my experience growing successful companies with ClearGauge as it helps organizations innovate,” Simon said. “ClearGauge is driving home the Internet’s true impact as a vehicle for higher revenues and market share, and understanding customers and markets more clearly.”
